How we source tyre cost figures

Cost ranges on this site are based on public reference material across the relevant landscape. The publishers below are representative of the kind of source that informs our positioning, not an exhaustive extraction map per figure. A specific figure on a specific page is not necessarily anchored to a single named publisher.

Sources

  • Major UK retailer published prices. Kwik Fit, ATS Euromaster, Halfords Autocentres, Costco Tyres, F1 Autocentres, Iverson Tyres, Black Circles, Tyre Shopper, and Asda Tyres published per-tyre and full-set prices for the major SKUs.
  • Manufacturer guidance. Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Dunlop, Hankook, Nexen, Avon and Falken published consumer pricing pages and tyre-class positioning guidance.
  • Mobile-fit and online published rates. Black Circles, ProTyre, Tyre Shopper, Etyres mobile-fit and online published prices including delivery + fitting fees.
  • Practitioner survey data. Honest John tyre-cost forum threads, MoneySavingExpert tyre-cost discussions, MOT-failure root-cause data from DVSA on tyre-related failures, Which? tyre-comparison testing where pricing context is published.

What we deliberately do not publish

  • Specific seasonal promotion pricing. Retailers run frequent buy-three-get-one-free or seasonal-discount promotions. Promotion pricing is captured during the promotion window only and not promoted as standing-rate.
  • Per-vehicle quote estimates without size context. Tyre price varies materially by tyre size; we publish per-class bands rather than per-vehicle estimates, since the same vehicle can have different size options.
  • Personal vehicle data. Calculators run entirely in your browser. Your registration / size inputs are not transmitted, logged, or stored.

Update cadence

Site values update only when the underlying reality changes. Triggers:

  • Material movement (10%+) in published per-class tyre prices over a 12-month sample
  • Major retailer announces a tyre-pricing or fitting-fee change
  • Manufacturer announces a tyre-line repricing
  • Material change in commodity rubber / oil pricing affecting retail price

Cosmetic date bumps are not made.

Editorial position

This site is operated by Digital Signet, an independent AI-development studio. Digital Signet does not sell tyres, does not act as a tyre retailer, does not run a fitting practice, and does not accept paid placements from Kwik Fit, ATS, Halfords, Costco or any other UK tyre retailer. See /about for the operator and the wider network.

Editorial direction is set by Oliver Wakefield-Smith. Drafts are produced via Digital Signet's autonomous AI development methodology and reviewed against the editorial framework before publication.
