ATS Euromaster hasclosed in the UK

By Oliver Wakefield-Smith, Founder, Digital Signet·Verified June 2026

ATS Euromaster, the Michelin-owned UK tyre and fleet-services chain, ran a structured wind-down with a final day of trading of 1 May 2026. You can no longer book tyres at an ATS Euromaster centre. Some sites continue under new owners; this page explains what happened and where to buy instead.

The wind-down

A fleet chain that ran out of road

ATS Euromaster was the UK arm of the Euromaster division of the Michelin Group, structured around servicing van fleets, leasing companies, light commercial vehicle operators and contracted-mileage corporate accounts. Its retail walk-in business was real but never its identity in the way that retail-with-Lifetime-Guarantee is Kwik Fit's or retail-with-Motoring-Club-discount is Halfords'.

That fleet-heavy model came under sustained pressure in a UK tyre market the company described as suffering from over-capacity, rising costs and shifting consumer behaviour. The chain closed 86 of its least profitable centres during 2025, but that failed to halt significant losses. In February 2026 the company announced proposals for a structured wind-down of the whole UK operation, putting around 703 roles at risk. A collective consultation ran until 30 April 2026, with the proposed final day of trading set for 1 May 2026.

Rather than closing every door, the wind-down passed part of the network to other operators. 35 of the chain's roughly 152 points of sale were sold to Formula One Autocentres, and 14 to S&M Tyres, which trades as Elite Garages. Subject to those sales completing, around 216 employees across 49 sites were expected to transfer under TUPE regulations. Separately, 13 mobile night technicians were invited to transfer to Tructyre, a Euromaster Group business focused on mobile tyre services for commercial vehicles.

The practical upshot for a retail buyer is simple: you cannot book a tyre fit at ATS Euromaster any more. If a centre you used is still open, it now trades as a Formula One Autocentre or an Elite Garage, with that operator's own pricing and policies rather than the old ATS tariff.

FAQ

ATS Euromaster closure, common questions

Is ATS Euromaster still open in 2026?+

No. ATS Euromaster, the Michelin-owned UK tyre and fleet-services chain, ran a structured wind-down of its UK operations with a final day of trading of 1 May 2026. The decision followed sustained losses in an over-supplied market and the earlier closure of 86 of its least profitable centres during 2025. Around 703 roles were placed at risk in the wind-down.

What happened to the ATS Euromaster centres?+

Of the chain's roughly 152 points of sale, 35 were sold to Formula One Autocentres and 14 to S&M Tyres, which trades as Elite Garages, with around 216 staff transferring under TUPE. Separately, 13 mobile night technicians were offered transfers to Tructyre, the Euromaster Group's commercial mobile-tyre business. If your local ATS centre is still open, it now trades under one of those names, not as ATS Euromaster.

Can I still get an ATS Euromaster warranty honoured?+

ATS Euromaster fitted tyres carried the manufacturer's standard warranty (typically 5 years from the date of fit on most premium and mid-range brands). A manufacturer warranty is held with the tyre maker, not the retailer, so a manufacturing-defect claim can still be pursued through the tyre brand or an authorised dealer. Retailer-specific guarantees and any pre-paid services ended with the wind-down; keep your original fitting invoice as proof of the fit date.

Where should I buy tyres now that ATS Euromaster has closed?+

For high-street fitting, Kwik Fit (600+ centres), Halfords Autocentres (around 400) and National Tyres are the main bricks-and-mortar chains. For the lowest prices, online retailers like Blackcircles, Asda Tyres and Tyre Shopper typically run 15 to 30 per cent below high-street fitters, and Costco UK is usually cheapest on premium brands for members. Drivers of vans and commercial vehicles who relied on ATS for fleet work can use Formula One Autocentres, Elite Garages or a commercial specialist.

Was ATS Euromaster part of the Michelin group?+

Yes. Euromaster was wholly owned by the Michelin Group, headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and ATS Euromaster was its UK trading brand. Michelin's other UK-facing retail interests, including the online retailer Blackcircles, are unaffected by the ATS Euromaster UK wind-down.
